Egy név nélküli színésznő és egy név nélküli pincér találkoznak egy szállodai szobában. Egy éjszakára négy fal közé szorul két élet megannyi mélysége: szerelem, rajongás, magány. Egy ilyen találkozás sok mindent kihoz az emberből, de a meglepően őszinte vagy épp hazug szándékok kuszaságát csak egy tragikus végkifejlet oldhatja fel… Forgách András árnyalt, s árnyaltságuknál fogva összemosódó karakterei újabb és újabb feldolgozásért kiáltanak. Nem meglepő tehát, hogy A pincér kifinomult konfliktusai 1991-es bemutatkozásuk óta időről-időre magukkal ragadják a közönséget.
