…Egyszer volt, hol nem volt, volt egyszer egy világ, ahol hangulatvilágítás mellett, cigarettafüstös levegőben, bensőséges zsongásba olvadt a szerelmespárok suttogása, a mulatnivágyók emelkedett hangulata, koccantak a poharak, feketekávé illata keveredett jóféle italok párájával. S a félhomályos bárok, presszók népe csak akkor csendesedett el, amikor megszólalt a zongora, a törzsvendégek számára jólismert zongorista halkan játszani kezdett. Némelyik maga szerezte a dalokat, mint Seress Rezső, Horváth Jenő, s olyan szövegírókkal dolgoztak, mint Szenes Iván, S. Nagy István, Bradányi Iván, vagy a legendás Zsüti, G. Dénes György. És sok ilyen meghitt, vagy épen mondén hely volt Pesten, s amikor besötétedett már, pesti éjszakának emlegették a szórakozni vágyók az utánozhatatlan és mára már tökéletesen eltűnt világot.

Under the title Castle Session, the open-air events of the series transform the pulse of the city into sound. Once a month, the Neo-Renaissance Garden becomes home to the distinctive sonic world of Be Massive Horizon. The rose garden’s unique atmosphere, panoramic views of the Danube and Gellért Hill, and the historic setting at the foot of the Buda Castle together create the evening’s unmistakable backdrop.
Kati Kovács, one of the defining voices of Hungarian popular music, has been on stage for over six decades. With her unmistakable mezzo-soprano voice, remarkable four-and-a-half-octave range, and a catalogue of songs known across generations, she remains a powerful and compelling live performer. This June, her iconic hits return at VárkertFeszt.
What happens when Queen’s songs are performed in the language of jazz? The Budapest Jazz Orchestra answers this question with its concert QUEEN – Real JAZZ. The initially unusual idea was a long-cherished project of jazz drummer Zsolt Madai, brought to life as a large-scale production with the support of artistic director Gábor Kollmann.
